Rock Climbing in Krabi, Thailand
Day 1
After Koh Phangan, Ife and I bussed to Krabi, a well known beach town in the southern part of Thailand.
From here one can go to many of the famous Thai islands such as Koh Phi Phi (no I do not have to go pee), and phuket is very close by (although we opted not to go to Phuket cause we heard it is overcrowded, expensive, and full of old men who would want to make us their wives…)
Before we left, we decided we would join our friends from Koh Phangan up in Pai, which cut our Krabi trip down to two days. But we were determined to make the most of those two days.
On the first day, I rented a motorbike. After riding around on the back of a friends bike in Koh Phangan, I was hooked, and felt confident I could drive one. We made a friend on the bus from the airport, her name was Ruthie. She too rented a motorbike. Ife did not want to drive a bike, but was willing to sit on the back of mine, that is until I tried to make a u-turn too quick and maayyyyyybbbeeeee crashed the bike into a row of parked bikes… Ife obtained a scratched knee, I luckily came out of the whole ordeal unscathed, and the woman who’s bike I crashed into got 500 baht.
But then Ife decided she was done with bikes for a while, and went to the beach instead.
Day 2
I went to Krabi with Ruthie, read about that here
Day 3
On the third day, I went rock climbing in Krabi’s famous limestone rock climbing cliffs. In order to get to the climbing beach, you need to take a boat:
Before I started climbing, I got some really great photos of the gorgeous beach:
Then I finally got around to the climbing part. In order to climb on the beach, you have to go through a climbing travel/tour guide. It’s really expensive but its the only way, so I worked with KrabiRockClimbing. It rained a lot which reduced the amount of time I could climb, but overall I still had a great time.
The thing that really sucked was that I had not climbed in so long that my forearms got super pumped and I was not able to climb as long as I would have wished. That being said, I had a blast.
