The Yellow Deli, Rutland, and the 4th of July
Day #: 49 Miles Since Last Update: 46 mi. Total Miles Hiked: 731 mi. Miles Remaining: 1,467 mi. This post can originally be found here, on The Trek The Yellow Deli The Yellow Deli is, as it sounds, a deli. But it is also much more than that. It is famous amongst AT thru-hikers because of its reputation for delicious food, the hostel space attached to the deli which is donation based (allowing those of us with tighter budgets to still experience a great place to stay), and lastly, because it is run by a religious organization known as The Twelve Tribes, which some organizations have classified as a cult.…

Welcome to Vermud… errr… Vermont
This post can originally be found on The Trek.Hello all. Is been a while, hasn’t it? Sorry about that. I promise I never forgot about you. In brief, the reason for my delay in posting is mostly due to the fact that as soon as I finished Vermont (and thus had the information I needed to write this post), I came town with COVID. Connecticut: It was beautiful until it was shrouded in rain and fog (Plus my trail name reveal!)
Day #: 36 Miles Since Last Update: 38 mi. Total Miles Hiked: 467 mi. Miles Remaining: 1,711 mi. Connecticut was a short, and tumultuous time in my AT life. As you can see from the title of this post, I spent a short amount of time in this state, and my experience in this short time was quite varied. Connecticut was the start of a few things for me. Also, I realized while writing this post that I never informed you all, but I have stuck to a trail name now for over 100 miles! Maybe it will stick with me for all the rest of the AT too! Ironically,…

Friends Along the Trail (pt.II) and the Birth of the Hamburger Helpers
I previously wrote on the great experience I had in getting to, spending time with, and leaving my friend in New Haven, CT. Well only a few days later I was blessed again with an amazing off-trail experience. A few years back (more years than I’d like to admit), I studied abroad in Edinburgh, Scotland. There, I chose to live in the student dorms to get more a “fuller exchange experience”. I was randomly assigned a roommate, from American University, named Michaela. Michaela and I not only became friends quickly, but we stayed friends throughout and after the study abroad (you may recall that she is one of the friends…
